Our extensive practice in both disciplines of design allows us the added ability to structurally check our work. This provides an invaluable tool to us and our clients, as the eyes on your design can recognize ahead of time whether envisioned scenarios are structurally feasible when implemented. Consider this: not only is your design being visualized through the eyes of your designer, but also the engineer, general contractor and framer…in one chair!* In some instances, this feature may expedite the engineering process and/or reduce engineering expenses tremendously. This service is provided during the design development phase, with structural (framing) drawings supplied as part of your construction document package.
Bower Residential’s experience includes extensive proof-reading of hundreds of construction documents put together by many other design firms. This practice has provided us with the understanding that even the smallest document error or omission, be it dimensional, geometric, or software-oriented, can occur even with the best designers. Unfortunately, even the most minute error or omission can lead to critical downtime to assess the issue, further leading to construction delays, costly back-up of trades, rescheduled inspections, etc. This can be an expensive, frustrating situation…which is also preventable! When addressed at the design desk of Bower Residential, we not only take the time to fully review and re-review all drawings for accuracy and clarity, we also add extra dimensioning, detail and notes to your design to insure all costly, time-consuming issues are worked out to the best of our ability before construction documents are in your hands.
We consider 80% of the success of any project is due to full and open communication. Obviously, this is a given during the design phase, but we believe that same communication level applies during construction, as well. We want to make sure your ideas and guidelines are carried through to completion, meaning we are always accessible for on-site personnel. This aspect, along with our personal stake in the success of your project, demonstrates an obligation on our part to guide and consult with all applicable trades and field-staff to the very end. Should any unforeseen issues arise during construction of your home, Bower Residential promises to be available, above and beyond our standard “construction observation” duties, to assist at any time up to placing your key in the front door.
At the end of your project, when the final coats of paint have been applied, the moving boxes are emptied, and that “new house smell” pleasantly greets you each time you walk in the door, Bower Residential Design can still be working for you! As an added feature, we can provide revised, updated and fully final drawings of your new home or similar project to have as a reference for any future renovations or additions you may want to complete, or just as a conversation piece.
NOTE: Structural drawings and as-built drawings are provided at extra cost.
GARY BOWER, Founder & Principal,has nearly 15 years experience in numerous specific disciplines relevant to residential design and construction. Gary has extensive practice in architectural and structural design and drafting, project management, scheduling, estimating, on-site logistics, and material selection. His design accomplishments are varied, from straightforward single family homes to 700,000 square foot apartment complexes to senior living campuses. Also included on his resume is the initial establishment and subsequent management of the design department of a start-up construction firm in Denver, Colorado, which went on to great success. He has always been driven by his passion of home design, and is persistently striving to learn new techniques and styles which are constantly shifting the residential design landscape. Personally, Gary lives with his wife, Sherea, and son, Aidan, in Englewood, Colorado. Gary enjoys baseball and spending time in the mountains with his family, and spends the rest of his free time orchestrating the “slow but sure” evolution of his own 1926 suburban Denver home into the 21st century.
